The unthinkable has happened --

Not only will I actually be out at the_vogue tonight, but I even know about it and have it somewhat planned far enough in advance to say something about it! From prior postings, I know I should see gothy_geek and anzu there...hopefully, I'll see a few others of you as well.

This should be fun — I get to pretend to be a “real” photographer in a couple weeks! ;)

anzu was kind enough to ask me if I’d be interested in shooting the upcoming Scarlet F Show that she’s involved in. I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to at first (I’ve already marked off a lot of weekends over the summer to get them off from work so that I could go shooting), but it turns out that the show’s on a day that I’ve already asked to have off (for the NW Folklife festival). Good timing!

I’ve been hoping an opportunity like this might come along for a while — while I had a lot of fun shooting the CascadiaCon fashion show last year, the camera just wasn’t quite up to the task. Now that my tools have improved, I’m looking forward to seeing what I can get from the show.

Some random little updates, as I’ve actually found a few minutes without anything pressing going on right this minute.

I actually managed to make it out to socialize Saturday night, heading out to the_vogue for a while for gothy_geek’s birthday. lasciviousturtl sent along a piece of cake (though she was too beat to come out and play), and much fun was had with the birthday girl, her date Marty, anzu, newwavegirlie, kramera, rainfromheaven, and invoke_thee, spent a few minutes chatting with benevolentia, and — in what was a major surprise — ran into Kate, one of my favorite. People. Evar. All in all, definitely a good night.

Had a random encounter with gravesme at work, when he and Aaron (?…damn my misfunctional memory) stopped by on a quest for toys and ended up departing with a nice 24mm f/2.4 lens for his camera. Yes. I’m jealous.

Of course, I’d need a camera to attach it to before a nice lens would do me any good.

And speaking of…

Might anyone be interested in an old but still quite functional (if not terribly speedy) Mac? Specifically, a 350Mhz blue and white G3? Mine’s been sitting in a closet since I moved, and I’m seriously considering doing a quick nuke-and-pave and seeing how much money I can get for it (if any). Not sure how much I can reasonably expect for it…I’ll worry about that later. In theory, though, any money gained from offloading it would be put towards getting myself a new camera (and I’ve even dropped my goals from the very-nice-but-pricey D70s to the still-quite-nice-and-more-affordable D50).

Of course, should anyone just be getting tired of me whining about wanting a new camera and feel like donating to the cause, I wouldn’t complain about that, either. ;)

And I think that that’s about everything for now.

Oh — I might be heading out to the pillow fight at Westlake tomorrow evening to take some pictures (assuming there are enough people there to make it interesting). Depends on whether I’ve got my homework done or not. ;)

Erk. Forgot that daylight savings time kicked in (out?) today, and got up an hour early. Meh. Could’ve had that extra hour in bed!

Hit the_vogue last night with lasciviousturtl, joined the table with gothy_geek, newwavegirlie, Aaron, and a couple other people that I didn’t catch the names of. So many wonderful costumes last night — all the schoolgirls in our group looked very cute, anzu looked great as a victorian schoolmarm (until she took off the coat and breasts popped everywhere…still looked very cute, just not quite as schoolmarm-ish)…while I got a laugh out of a guy who showed up dressed as a World Trade Center tower (very very wrong…but funny), Trish was wearing her Strawberry Shortcake outfit — and let me tell you, you have’t seen Strawberry Shortcake until you’ve seen her in red leather 20-eye Docs and a vinyl (satin?) corset that had her millimeters away from popping out of it.

Unfortunately, I’d neglected to bring my camera along for the night, so no pictures of the various costumes this year — though I did get a couple cute shots of lasciviousturtl before we left the apartment.

The only downside to the night was a higher than usual asshole quotient (mostly the group that invaded directly behind our table, who were loud, obnoxious, pushy, spilled drinks on newwavegirlie and gothy_geek, and at one point sent a cloud of horribly noxious cigar smoke across us…ick…before they were told to put it out). lasciviousturtl and I decided that we’d had all the fun we could stand around 11:20pm and came home to relax with an episode of X-Files before bed.

Rough plan for upcoming days:

Hop in the shower, get ready for work, head off. Work 'til 7pm. Come home, grab dinner with lasciviousturtl, her mom and her sister. Change clothes and head off to the_vogue for Halloween weekend revelries. If all goes as planned, gothy_geek and anzu will be joining lasciviousturtl in dressing up as schoolgirls (unfortunately, rainfromheaven bowed out, even though it was her idea in the first place...).

I'm going to be working for the next week straight through so that I can have next Friday and Saturday (or possibly Saturday and Sunday, the work schedule hadn't been finalized last time I saw it) off...and if I remember correctly, I'm working 'til 9pm on Thursday, so no Charlie's again for me this week. :(

However: next Thursday (Nov. 3rd) is lasciviousturtl's birthday! Yay! We're both working that day, so actual festivities are being delayed 'till the weekend. I might be going out to see Front 242 at the Fenix on Friday night, though that's not a definite thing yet. What is definite is that lasciviousturtl and I will be going to see Jason Webley's fall concert at the Catwalk on Saturday -- this will be our fourth year running going to see his fall show as the birthday weekend fun for lasciviousturtl. As always, we're really looking forward to that.

While I'm not sure how many (if any) of you might know of Jason Webley yet...well, you should. The guy's incredible. Anyone (local) want to come to the show with us? Trust me...it's worth it.

And those are all the definite plans so far. Now to get my skinny butt into the shower....

Good night out last night.

Saw many peoples: gothy_geek and anzu as they bounced back and forth between the_vogue and Homocoming; twintailmadb (with whom much dancing and flirting occurred) and Amanda, visiting from Olympia again; Chris, who was sitting at a table with Brooke (who, for someone who doesn’t normally drink, was quite cutely buzzed) and many of Brooke’s workmates from Starbucks, the only one of whom I can come up with a name for is Ellen (and that may very well be at least in part because she has great breasts, which were quite nicely displayed — and yes, the compliment was paid directly to her), though I did meet the rest; Carlee, who has an LJ account but I can’t think of what it is right now (aha…noxenlux), but I was just impressed that I managed to remember her name; and then the usual suspects (sirriamnis, ogremarco, umbrikatus, and others).

gothy_geek came home with Prairie and I and crashed out here. Was nice to have a guest over to the house (she’s only the second non-family visitor, as xementio came over not too long ago), and Prairie made some fresh muffins for us for breakfast. Yummuffins!

And now, off to eat and watch Desperate Housewives with Prairie.
